How the progress hold timer works

Isometric holds look “still,” but they are mentally demanding—there are no reps to break up the effort like squats. This timer tracks total hold time and pings you on a reminder cadence so you are not staring at tiny seconds.

Set a total hold—say 90 seconds of plank or two minutes of wall sit—then choose a reminder interval. A soft cue every 10–15 seconds breaks monotony and reduces the chance you drift out of good alignment out of boredom.

A progress bar shows how close you are to finishing. Many athletes find the bar more motivating than digits alone; combine it with sound if you train somewhere noisy and might miss a single beep.

Typical drills: front and side planks, wall sits, static hang, L-sit support work, isometric glute bridge holds. Yoga-style postures can also use timed holds—this tool does not replace a teacher, but it keeps left and right sides honest.

Symmetry: run the same duration on left and right for single-side holds so you do not accidentally favor your dominant side.

Breathing: slow nasal breathing often stabilizes the trunk during planks. If breathlessness ramps faster than muscular fatigue, shorten the hold or regress (knees-down plank).

Safety: stop on sharp wrist, elbow, or low-back pain. Tendons load heavily in isometrics—position quality beats chasing records.

Pairing: sandwich a long core hold after a HIIT block for a different nervous-system stimulus in one session.

Progress hold FAQ

What exercises is it for?

Planks, wall sits, static bar holds, or any drill where you stay in one position for time.

Can I run it silently?

Rely on the on-screen countdown and progress bar if you mute the tab or device.

Which reminder interval should I pick?

For sub-minute holds, 10s cues are common; for multi-minute holds, try 15–20s so cues are helpful without feeling spammy.

Can I pause?

Yes—pause if you need to fix alignment or answer the door, then resume according to the on-screen controls.
