How the boxing round timer works
A boxing-style round timer recreates the gym clock: a short prep window, a work round, a rest, then repeat. Instead of glancing at a wall clock between rounds, you configure seconds once and let the browser keep everyone honest. That reduces mistakes under fatigue and keeps coaches, partners, and classes on the same cadence.
Set round count, prep length, round length, and rest between rounds. Optionally enable a warning window before each round ends—handy when you are chaining combinations or rotating partners on mitts and need a heads-up that time is almost up.
After Start the program flows prep → round → rest until all rounds finish. Beeps mark transitions; turn your device volume up and allow audio after your first click so mobile browsers can play cues.
Common profiles: three-minute rounds with one-minute rest for moderate sparring; shorter rounds for jump-rope or power stations; longer prep if you wrap hands or swap gloves between blocks. There is no single “correct” profile—match it to your skill level and conditioning.
The tool also fits kickboxing, MMA-style round training, partner circuits, or even erg intervals if you like round psychology more than a plain stopwatch. Everything runs in the browser without extra cables to a speaker.
For fight prep, log perceived exertion in the last round and whether rest felt adequate. If you always gas in round three, add 10–15 seconds of rest or shorten the round slightly—the timer makes it cheap to experiment.
On phones keep the tab active and avoid aggressive battery modes that suspend background JavaScript. If you stream video in another tab, lower its volume so timer beeps stay audible.
Safety first: warm up before hard rounds; stop on dizziness or chest discomfort. The timer supports training—it does not replace coaching on technique or defense.
Boxing timer FAQ
What does “warning” mean?
Optional seconds before the round ends so you hear a cue to finish combinations or switch partners.
Can I pause?
Yes — use pause/resume during the workout. Restart resets the program from the beginning.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. Keep the tab in the foreground for the most reliable audio and timing, and allow sound after your first interaction.
How many rounds can I set?
Configure typical gym sessions from a few rounds up to longer sparring blocks using the rounds field within the UI limits.
Is it OK for beginners or juniors?
Yes—shorten round length and keep intensity controlled. A coach or parent should supervise technique and protective gear.
Can I skip the prep phase?
Set prep to zero seconds for a straight round → rest loop (still warm up outside the timer before hard work).
