Euro 2026

Ready for the euro?

All tools in one place

From 1 January 2026 Bulgaria adopts the euro. For merchants that means new rules for price display, checkout with leva and euro during the transition, and updating software and shelf labels. This hub collects Kalkulatori.bg calculators and a short guide—always confirm details with BNB and the Ministry of Finance.

Bulgaria now uses the euro as its official currency.

What every merchant should know

Adopting the euro changes daily life for anyone selling goods or services in Bulgaria. Beyond getting used to new numbers, the law requires transparency: final price, currency of payment, and how mixed payments work. That means planning early—labels, menus, e‑commerce carts and ERP settings.

Dual pricing. For a defined window, traders must show prices in both BGN and EUR according to official rules (shelf, price list, online). Our dual‑display calculator helps verify arithmetic using the fixed rate; it does not replace legal advice or the latest regulatory texts.

Cash registers & fiscal devices. Systems must support the new currency, correct fiscal receipts, and transition modes—including BGN payments until the legal deadline ends and EUR afterwards, per applicable rules. Timely updates from your software vendor or device service partner are critical to avoid downtime or audit issues.

Transition period. A limited period may allow payments in both currencies with clear rounding and change rules. Train staff to explain totals, give change, and record sales correctly. The “BGN–EUR for merchants” calculator is built for these desk scenarios.

Official sources. For legal texts, rates, timelines and sector requirements rely on the Bulgarian National Bank ([bnb.bg](https://www.bnb.bg)) and the Ministry of Finance ([minfin.bg](https://www.minfin.bg)), plus NRA guidance on fiscal devices. This page is educational, not legal advice.
