Methodology

  • See the methodology notes on this page for units and rounding.

How to use

Type an expression or tap the keypad, then press = or Enter. The result appears immediately; copy it with the Copy button.

Keyboard shortcuts

  • Enter — calculate
  • Esc — clear
  • Backspace — delete last character

Operator precedence

Multiplication and division run before addition and subtraction. Parentheses change the order.

  • 2 + 3 × 4 → 14
  • (2 + 3) × 4 → 20

Percent

Here x% means x ÷ 100. Example: 50% → 0.5; 100 + 50% → 100.5 (not “100 plus 50% of 100”). This is not the hidden percent behaviour of some pocket calculators.

Decimal marks

Either a dot or a comma may be the decimal mark (1.5 and 1,5). Do not mix both in one number and do not use thousand separators (e.g. 1,000.5) — enter the number without grouping.

Precision

Results use ordinary browser double precision. Obvious binary artifacts (such as 0.1 + 0.2) are rounded for display — e.g. 0.3. This is not accounting-grade or arbitrary precision and does not replace financial or engineering software.

For taxes, salary and specialised tools see the catalog, e.g. VAT or salary.
