JAVASCRIPT FOUNDATIONS / CHAPTER 01 / Learn / LESSON 01
Welcome to JavaScript Code Lab. We will build a small budget helper — console only, no HTML or CSS.
A program is a list of instructions. The first useful one is showing text. In JavaScript that is console.log(...). Whatever you put in the parentheses appears in the console.
Text (a string) goes in quotes: "Hello" or 'Budget'. Without quotes, JavaScript looks for a variable name and fails.
Mini example (not the full solution):
console.log("Hi");Common mistake: Console.log with a capital C, or missing quotes. Remember: lowercase console, then a dot, then log.
console.log writes a value to the console. Put text in quotes.
